چکیده

Sulfidic mine tailings are potential waste materials from mining and mineral processing, they can contain a high content of sulfur metal(loid)s, even after bioleaching. Due to the large amount historical mining, it is crucial find alternative methods for utilizing such rather than permanent storage in impoundments. One-part alkali-activated slag mortars promising co-binder systems recycling sulfidic thanks their practicability, easy transportation, user-friendly production. In this work, up 50 wt% were incorporated into blast furnace mortars. C-(N)-A-S-H gels formed all final samples with hydrotalcite zeolites. Tailings hardly participate alkali activation, but do have considerable influence on physical chemical properties. The 20 tailings-containing sample showed highest compressive strength 91.1 MPa 90 days curing. results isothermal calorimetry indicate that incrementally increasing percentage promotes pre-induction reaction hinders hydration process. addition, X-ray microcomputed tomography higher porosity when mortar contains more tailings; thus, 10 lowest porosity. According European Union batch leaching test, bioleached be valorized system while remaining below nonhazardous thresholds.

Properties of Foamed Mortar Prepared with Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag

Foamed mortar with a density of 1300 kg/m³ was prepared. In the initial laboratory trials, water-to-cement (w/c) ratios ranging from 0.54 to 0.64 were tested to determine the optimal value for foamed mortar corresponding to the highest compressive strength without compromising its fresh state properties. With the obtained optimal w/c ratio of 0.56, two types of foamed mortar were prepared, name...

Rational Utilization of Fine Unclassified Tailings and Activated Blast Furnace Slag with High Calcium

The utilization of cemented tailings/paste backfill (CPB) by the mining industry is becoming increasingly important. However, it has been difficult to analyze the economic usage of CPB for fine unclassified tailings. Therefore, the physical and chemical properties of fine unclassified tailings, sampled from the Sijiaying Mine, were first analyzed in this study. After this, active excitation of ...

Effect of Na3PO4 on the Hydration Process of Alkali-Activated Blast Furnace Slag

In recent years, the utilization of different non-traditional cements and composites has been increasing. Alkali-activated cementitious materials, especially those based on the alkali activation of blast furnace slag, have considerable potential for utilization in the building industry. However, alkali-slag cements exhibit very rapid setting times, which are too short in some circumstances, and...

EFFECTS OF SILICA MODULUS AND ALKALI CONCENTRATION ON ACTIVATION OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG

Abstract: The use of alkali-activated cementitious materials especially over the past decades has significantly been increased. The goal of this research is to investigate the effects of silica modulus and alkali concentration on alkali-activation of blast-furnace slag. In this research, the most important physical characteristics of cementitious systems, i.e. the 28-day compressive strength...
